Food was better than expected. Looks more basic than it tastes. Super flavorful. Biscuit was so moist. The jam in the squeeze bottle was so good. The side of gravy had some big chunks of sausage. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The chef was on site. There was a long wait but we used the online waitlist. The outside waiting area was nice and cool. The fresh squeezed oj was perfect.
They opened up Snackbar to accomodate BBB overflow. Great atmosphere! Food is probably better than I'm rating it here but I didn't care for what I ordered, which was the Yard Work Skillet. Good concept on the dish but not welll executed. Pretty dry and bland. I ended up mixing my biscuit and gravy into it to add flavor. My wife liked her dish, a basic omelet and brulée'd grapefruit.
First time for me to visit a BBB cafe. Reservation system through Yelp worked great. We were offered inside or outside seating and were seated promptly. Friendly staff. Lots of hustle and bustle in the restaurant. My food came out lukewarm, and I’m pretty sure the Sunny side up egg on top has been precooked; my spouse’s food came out hot. Had to ask for butter to go with our biscuits. I thought the food was kinda ‘meh’. Might look for another next time.
Best southern breakfast in Oxford. Cat Head biscuit was the highlight. Chicken n waffles was also very good.
Had a lovely brunch. The menu wasn't as big on 'creative twists on classics' as I thought it'd be but that could be either a pro or a con depending on your perspective. I was primarily just happy there were multiple tempting vegetarian options. The coffee was good, biscuits were worth eating and my dish, the yard work Skillet, was memorable - the goat cheese definitely did set it apart. So in the end, perhaps there were just the right number of twists on the menu...
Atmosphere was old time diner, service was friendly and efficient, restaurant was celebrating Pride in style (which made everything taste better). Also recommend the antique shop across the parking lot - fun, well air conditioned antique hunting to be had.
This experience was pretty okay! I purchased the creole omelet and 2 pancakes and the person I was with ate the chicken and waffles.
I personally did not like the eggs and preferred them to be more done. Everything else was good.
Also the chicken with the waffles, were not favorable, because one piece of chicken was dark meat & that wasn’t his preference.
The wait was not very long and the waiters were friendly but quite busy. The experience felt nice but it is not very spacious. Altogether, I enjoyed the experience. Around ~35 for 2, which is reasonable for breakfast!
An amazing, veey busy, local eatery.
We had a 30 minuye wait. It was worth it.
BBB is a wonderful breakfast restaurant. Similar in some ways to IHOP.
But BBB is done upscale, with delightful southern hospitality, an intellectual taste, and vintage small town charm.
But the impressive customer service is why I will frequently come back.
My wife and I BOTH hit them with serious allergy issues in our order. I have a shellfish allergy (they serve shrimp). My wife is KETO and allergic to wheat free. Plus, I have a large registered service animal.
They handled the twists and diet restrictions with the utmost care. They were friendly and chatty. The building is very retro and wonderful. The outdoor seating is plentiful and welcoming to the beautiful outdoor weather.
I come to Big Bad Breakfast every time I come to Oxford. I’ve always enjoyed having a delicious breakfast here. Today I had the Huevos Rancheros and was pleased. It was very tasty and well prepared.
